The UC Early Learning Center serves the University of Cincinnati and the greater Cincinnati community as a primary
leader of early childhood education. The talented and professional staff of the Center delivers an accredited,
developmentally appropriate, and nurturing program designed to enrich the lives of young children and their families.
All services are provided in a safe, diverse and family centered environment.

Licensing
The UC Early Learning Center is licensed by the State of Ohio Department of Human Services for 139 children
total. The center is also licensed by the City of Cincinnati Board of Health, Day Care Licensing Department, which
requires the center to meet additional regulations over and above the state regulations, including additional square
feet of space per child and minimum adult/child ratios of:

| 1 adult for every 4 infants |
1 adult for every 10 preschoolers |
| 1 adult for every 5 toddlers |
1 adult for every 15 school-agers |

Accreditation
The UC Early Learning Center is accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs, a division
of The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The Academy administers the only national,
voluntary professionally sponsored accreditation system for schools and childcare centers. |
Accredited programs offer:
frequent, positive, warm interactions among adults and children
planned learning activities appropriate to children's age and development, such as block building, painting, reading
stories, dress-up, and active outdoor play
specially trained teachers
enough adults to respond to individual children
many varied age-appropriate toys and materials
a healthy safe environment
nutritious meals and snacks
regular communication with parents
effective administration
ongoing, systematic evaluation
